Check List (print ready)
All companies that sell sheds and patios are not the same. Before you consider your purchase print off and check this simple list of things to be aware of.
Fact Sheet
Home Sheds
Buying a shed might seem straightforward but you must comply with the regulations surrounding its construction. For example, most domestic sheds and garages require a building permit.
If the supply and installation costs more than $5,000 you must be an owner builder or use a registered building practitioner to carry out the work.
You must also be aware of the pitfalls when shed companies insist you be the owner builder or split their quotes between the product itself and the construction. The onus will be on you to supply the warranty (once the building has been inspected) if you sell within six years of the completion of the work.
Some companies will revise down their quote to under $12,000 to avoid having to provide you with domestic building warranty insurance.
Outdoor Steel Solutions would be happy to supply you with a Fact Sheet from the Building Commission and Plumbing Industry Commission regarding Domestic Shed and Garage Building Work.
Of course, when you purchase your shed through Outdoor Steel Solutions you will be using registered builders, so you will be protected across all areas of compliance.
