A decked out “man cave”, believes Arch Morrison, is the secret to his long and happy marriage.But this isn’t any old shed but one fitted with a bar, a spa, pool table and a television.“It is a man cave, a bit of a man retreat,” Mr Morrison said.”“It is somewhere you can sit with the boys and watch motor sports and the football.”

The Redan resident and his 14 metre by 14 metre shed has emerged as the nationwide winner of the Ranbuild “Show us your shed” promotion.

The competition, which ran throughout the AFL season, gave footy fans a chance to show off their shed.

The price was a night partying and talking footy in the shed with 50 mates and members of the AFL Live team, Terry Wallace, Billy Brownless and Cameron Mooney.

Mr Morrison said though he thought he had a chance the win took him by surprise.

In his entry to the competition, the 40-year-old said the only thing the shed didn’t have was a bed.

“But who need’s a bed when the shed has a bar with ever flowing beer on tap…, a pot belly to fire up, a spa you can relax in while watching the footy on the big screen,” he wrote.

There’s also a phone there to “call the local pizza guy” if Mr Morrison was “bluing with the missus”.

Mr Morrison said the “man cave”, which started off as a basic shell, took a life of its own as he kept adding to the shed over the 12 years.

“I decked it out over the years,” he said.

“I didn’t expect it to be this big. I was just making it as comfortable as possible.

“And things just kept popping into my head.”

However, he is not yet ready to stop and enjoy his creation. More improvements are on the way.

“I’d really like to get an original petrol pump,” he said.
